Reflexotherapy is a branch of reflexology that deals with the treatment by massaging the reflex points diagnosed as sensitive (painful). Reflexotherapy can be done on reflex points located in the legs (feet), hands, spine, tongue, ears or large intestine.

Foot massageIn reflexotherapy there are not used intermediate objects to perform massage, like: crystals, incense, sticks, etc.). Reflexotherapy is a science based on practice, a treatment technique which involves massaging the feet, hands or head in the areas corresponding to each organ. It is associated with alternative medicine and it has its origins in ancient Egypt and China and it is as old as acupuncture or acupressure.

Reflexotherapy is based on the theory that there are certain areas of the body where there are projected, in terms of nervous and energy, all the organs and functions of the body. The most important such area is the feet. At the foot sole are many nerve endings and scientifically proven at this level are some deposits of toxins (uric acid, salts and other impurities). These deposits form clusters compact and is often described as "grain" or "crystal." It was also found over time that these clusters accumulate more in certain areas, depending on patient condition.

Reflexotherapy maps

Reflexotherapy - map for foot / body correspondenceThere are "maps" of the feet including foot projections of all body organs. Consulting such a map and touching those areas of foot, depending on the amount of deposits and the pain felt by the patient, we can detect the disease the person has or he might have in the future. Tactile sensitivity needed to feel the adhesions from the feet takes time and a long experience. Therefore, reflexology can't be practiced by anyone, anytime. This requires very good theoretical knowledge and long term experience.

Massaging reflex areas during several sessions (20-25), involves the crack and decomposition of toxins, of the deposits that blood circulation will send to the organs of elimination, improving health. Good blood circulation is vital for each organ or body area, because blood is carrying nutrient, hormones, antibodies, oxygen, metabolic waste and other substances. Reflex massage stimulates strong blood circulation, thereby helping transporting the toxins to organs of elimination and detoxification.

Reflexotherapy can be applied at any age, for both prophylactic and acute or chronic. Like any other form of massage, reflexotherapy is completely natural. I think it is important to point out that reflexotherapy should never replace treatment prescribed by your doctor.

It is true that if a person makes regular and constant reflexotherapy sessions, his body will be more healthier and the immune system more effective. The chances of developing disease will be minimal. But when the disease is installed, it is possible that reflexotherapy to not have enough power alone to heal. But used as an adjunct, this form of treatment is always welcome, reflexotherapy eliminating toxins collected in years or decades. The great advantage of this therapy is that it can treat diseases that already exist in your body, and those yet undetected, and predispositions to certain diseases, eliminating the cause that produced them.

Reflexotherapy treatments

Duration of treatment can vary from person to person depending on the reaction of each body part. The disease in its early stages needs 12 sessions. for chronic diseases are necessary 20 to 25 sessions depending on the period since the disease exists and on patient age. Time required for completion of sessions, depending on condition, lasts 20 to 40 minutes. There are special cases when a meeting takes up to 60 minutes. After treatment maintenance sessions are much less, ranging from once weekly to once every two months.
